Leaving Ullapool to the north we drive along the eastern flanks of Ben More Coigach until about we turn left on to the long and winding single track road to Achiltibuie. Essentially following this route takes you around Ben More Coigach, passing other notable mountains such as Stac Pollaidh en route. Until you reach the Achiltibuie this is an area almost totally devoid of human habitation, unspoiled and wild. The scenery is wonderful, and on reaching the coast at Achiltibuie there is a fine vista containing the many Summer Islands.
En route you will pass through the following communities, Ardmair, Strath Kanaird, Drum Runie, Achnahaird, Reiff, Polbain, Achiltiibuie, Polglass, Badenscallie, and Culnacraig.
