Plockton is such a scenic location that I have given it a gallery all to itself as opposed to the area to which it belongs. It is situated at the western end of Loch Carron, surrounded by hills on all sides including the hills of Applecross to the north of Plockton.
This village is a magnet for tourists due to its setting, and the charm of the village itself, with its waterfront lined with palm trees. It also has the advantage of having a direct train link from Inverness, so for those without their own transport it can be used as a base to explore the surrounding area, including the nearby Isle of Skye.
