Image Details

This view was taken on a summer's evening from Laide looking over Scotland's Gruinard Bay to Gruinard Island, Cailleach Head, and Ben Mor Coigach. This image came to be in unusual circumstances. One of Isabel's sons was up staying with us for a few days, and one evening as we were sitting talking, I asked him if he wanted a beer, which he did, so off I went to the kitchen to do the needful.

While in the kitchen I took a look out of the window to see what was happening - the view continually changes with the varying light levels and passing weather. I was faced with the view you see above, and all thoughts of beer instantly vanished!

I went and got the equipment, set up my tripod, opened the window, and took several shots of this beautiful scene. I probably spent 10 minutes doing this, and having finished I put everything away again. Then finally I got round to the reason I had gone to the kitchen in the first place, the beer! So I poured a couple of pints and went back to the living room with them, and on being asked what took me so long I just replied, "Oh, I've just been doing some landscape photography."
