This view was taken from the Sand Dunes at Gairloch Golf Course on Scotland's north-west coast, looking north-west back to Strath and Longa Island. My wife was at a church meeting, and while I was waiting on that finishing I set up my equipment and watched the sunset develop.
As always with sunsets one is never quite sure when it has reached it's best, so I keep on shooting as it develops. I have often found in these situations that I can end up with several different but equally good photographs of the sunset, not only as the light changes, but also by selecting different parts of the scene.
This was taken in July, and as is inevitable on Scotland's west coast at this time of year, the midgies were out in force looking for fresh blood. They had quite a feast on me on this particular evening!
